There are a wide range of conditions that can bring on hair loss. Among females, few of the reasons could be pregnancy, thyroid disorders, anemia and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
Other reasons for hair loss and damage includes extreme stress, physical trauma like surgery or intense illness, dramatic weight loss over a short period of time, excess consumption of Vitamin A, or hair manipulation products like dyes, chemical treatments, bad brushes, blow dryers, and flat irons.
Luckily, in most of these cases, the hair grows back or the loss can be reversed. Hair loss in men results from male-pattern baldness, a genetic trait that comes from parents. Other causes include medication, excess consumption of vitamin A, and lack of protein, illness or stress. Hair loss that isn’t from male pattern baldness often reverses itself. For male pattern baldness, the result depends on what stage you start the treatment at.
