PRP Hair Rejuvenation

Our blood plasma (PRP) contains active growth factors which can promote hair growth. PRP procedure is a state of the art, non surgical, natural, medical procedure used for the treatment of hair loss or hair thinning. It is an injectable treatment which uses the patient’s own blood. It is suitable for both men and women.

What causes hair loss?

There are a wide range of conditions that can bring on hair loss. Among females, few of the reasons could be pregnancy, thyroid disorders, anemia and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

Other reasons for hair loss and damage includes extreme stress, physical trauma like surgery or intense illness, dramatic weight loss over a short period of time, excess consumption of Vitamin A, or hair manipulation products like dyes, chemical treatments, bad brushes, blow dryers, and flat irons.

Luckily, in most of these cases, the hair grows back or the loss can be reversed. Hair loss in men results from male-pattern baldness, a genetic trait that comes from parents. Other causes include medication, excess consumption of vitamin A, and lack of protein, illness or stress. Hair loss that isn’t from male pattern baldness often reverses itself. For male pattern baldness, the result depends on what stage you start the treatment at.

How is the procedure done?

Post consultation with our doctor, our nurse will draw about 8 ml (two teaspoons) of blood from your body. This is very similar to how blood is drawn from your hands during a test. The blood will then be spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelet plasma from the red blood cells using a centrifuge.

A topical local anesthetic will be applied to the skin of the injection site for 20-30 minutes. The PRP is then topically applied to the skin immediately following a micro-needling procedure with dermapen. Then the growth factors in your blood cells do their job and hair growth is naturally stimulated.

The treatment can be used in conjunction with some hair transplant procedures. So far, there isn’t any clinical proof that it works, but the results are very promising.
